K&K Wedding Week

What.A.Week. It has been quiet over here on The Ham(bulletin) because we have been busy celebrating Kyle and Kim DODRILL'S wedding!

The celebrations started two Saturdays ago with a bbq for the groomsmen (the bachelor party was already celebrated a few weeks ago) and a bachelorette party for all of us girls who love Kim! We had such a fun night! It started with a lingerie shower for Kim at her sister's house that was full of ohhhhing and ahhing and, of course, tons of giggling. Then it was out to Departure, an Asian restaurant on top of The Nines hotel. This was one of the coolest places I have ever been. It is very modern (almost futuristic...in Katrina's words, "I feel like I'm standing in line for Space Mountain!"). The restaurant also had a balcony that overlooked Pioneer Square, which this city girl thought was pretty rad. After Departure we went to Barrel Room, a dueling piano bar with an outside club-like dance area. Cue hours of dancing.

During the week I spent some time putting the finishing touches on the slideshow I made for Kim and Kyle's ceremony. I loved seeing all the pictures of K&K growing up, especially the pictures of Bryce and Kyle when they were little. So cute. I uploaded the slideshow to youtube and you can watch it here if you are interested.

Friday was the rehearsal dinner, which is one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding celebration. There was so much excitement in the room. When I asked Kim and Kyle how they were holding up on Friday night they both said, "I just can't wait to get things started!". During the dinner, all of the bridal party shared a memory of Kim and Kyle or a little word about why we think they are going to be good spouses. I had to leave early to pick my mom up from the airport, so I only heard a couple people talk, but I'm sure it was a very special time of honoring Kim and Kyle.

Saturday was THE DAY. All of us girls arrived at our hotel room to get ready at 9 AM. The morning was full of hugs, laughter, excited "IT'S FINALLY HERE!"s, dancing, singing, anticipation, and happy tears. Around 1PM, Kim put her dress on. When we finally saw her all put together, we were blown away. She looked sooooo stunning!

Eventually we all got our pictures taken, loaded up cars, and headed to the church. The ceremony was beautiful. I cried five times: once when I first saw Kyle standing at the end of the aisle looking so happy, once when Bryce and Piper walked down the aisle, once when Kim walked down the aisle to this song, once when I saw the huge grin on Kyle's face during the vows, and once when they took communion. Weddings always make me think of this, and I can't help but cry with joy.

In no time at all, Kim and Kyle were announced as husband and wife and the party started! The reception was at the Hilton in Vancouver, WA. Kim put her amazing interior design skills to work, and made the ballroom look amazing. We dined, we drank, we danced. It was such an awesome party, as weddings should be. I know Kim and Kyle had a great time, and at the end of the night, the only thing to be sad about was that the party didn't last another week longer!

This past week has been so fun. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dodrill! You're marriage was (and will always be) something to truly celebrate.
