Mom married John on Saturday. You can read a bit more about them here. The only way to describe mom was breathtaking. Not many kids get to see their mom get married and it was so special. I've never seen her look happier. I couldn't fight the tears as I watched her walk down the aisle and thought about how this wedding was a symbol of the healing that has taken place in our family.
One of my cousins said it best..."There was a time when you couldn't look at Kathy without seeing a tremendous sadness. It was almost as if you could see the weight of her grief on her shoulders. But, although you can still see a tinge of sadness every once in a while, ever since she met John that overwhelming sorrow isn't there anymore. Her smile has come back."
Congratulations Mom and John. I love you both!
P.S. The title of this blog has two sources...
1. This Will Smith movie which my mom has probably seen 100 times. It was one of her favorites for a long time.
2. This beautiful Maria Taylor song. "You dreamed of a love that made you feel more alive, be worth any compromise. A love that would always keep you surprised and prove to be worth the fight." (I think I've posted almost an entire album worth of her songs throughout this blog. What can I say? She is great.).
