We had an awesome time taking a day trip to Seaside with our friends the Rotrocks on the Sunday of birthday week. Scott and Becky are our close friends from our old church. Their little boy, Hunter, was born four months (almost to the day) after Piper. While we were living in Estacada we went to a home group at Scott and Becky's house on Tuesdays. On Wednesdays we all met up at the church to work with the youth group. On Thursdays Scott and Becky would come to a small group at our landlord's house and after their group was over we would hang out, sometimes until the wee morning hours. On Sundays we would see them at church. And believe it or not we STILL wanted to hang out with them on the other days!
Becky is a giver. I don't know how she accomplishes all that she does. She works and enjoys her roles as wife and mom, which is a lot in and of itself. But Becky goes above and beyond. I don't know if there is a single lady in the church who hasn't had Becky throw her a bridal shower, or cook her a meal, or help her decorate for an event. She is funny and easy to talk to. We were pregnant at the same time and I was so thankful to have her to experience the excitement, anxiousness, and sickness of pregnancy with (and Joy Wiseman too). She has been an encouragement to me and a good friend.
Scott is a giver right along with Becky. I don't know how many times he has driven a bunch of youth group kids to go bowling, or played the drums for someone who needed accompaniment, or provided manual labor for those in need. He is a passionate guy and is always curious to learn, which makes him and Bryce a good pair. He asks good questions and is a great conversationalists. His sense of humor matches Becky's perfectly and they are hilarious. You can tell that his heart's desire is to love Jesus well and lead his family.

Hunter is all boy. He runs fast, falls hard, and then gets up and does it again. He has a sweet face and a grin that melts your heart. He is strong and tall for his age. It will be fun to watch him grow!
On Sunday the Rotrocks picked us up around ten and we made it to the beach around noon. The Rotrocks played in the water since Hunter liked the waves and didn't mind the chilliness. We stuck to the sand and a warm water inlet since Piper was a little scared of the ocean. Then we all had a picnic. We spent the afternoon talking, laughing, and enjoy the sun. The kids loved the sand and played great together. The drive home flew by because we were enjoying their company so much.
We love you, Rotrocks! Thanks for a great day together.

emily, that last picture is priceless! Happy birth week!
